We here at The SmartVan are excited to announce a content partnership we’ve formed with Mike Rowe (of Dirty Jobs fame) for his new online portal, Trades Hub, a site dedicated to bringing service pros of all stripes the news and resources they need. The SmartVan will be supplying Trades Hub with content for the field service set, complementing the material the site pulls in from experts in the construction, plumbing, welding and electrician fields, just to name a few.
Trades Hub, an extension of MikeRoweWORKS, is “dedicated to championing the cause of hard workers and reinvigorating the skilled trades.”
Collect High Quality Content – The goal of a content community is to provide a high quality destination that highlights the most recent and best content as defined by the community.
Be A Jump Off Point – To be clear, all content communities are only jump off points to the sources of the content.
Help Surface Content that Might Not be Found – It’s often hard to find and understand blog content that’s spread across sites. Most users are not regular subscribers to these blogs and other content sources.
Building Up the Trades Community: The skills gap is a real concern that’s getting more worrisome every day. Fewer skilled tradesmen in the workforce will affect us all. Younger folks need to have a better understanding of how they can benefit from learning a trade, and parents need to encourage their kids to consider this worthwhile and important path. mrW strives to reinvigorate the trades. The mrW Trades Hub will help us in that effort.
